Tuncurry - the aboriginal word meaning 'plenty of fish' is true to the word!
Fishing here is a great pass time. Come and drop a line and maybe catch your dinner? Or you may wish to hire a boat to fish and explore the waterways. While you
are here try some oysters grown here in Wallis Lake - mmm .... so fresh and tasty!
Look out for dolphins, there are always some dolphins to be seen somewhere in the lake or out by the rock wall and whales at different times of the year. Then there are
the pelicans waiting for some tasty morsel to be thrown to them from the fishing boats moored in Wallis Lake.
Perhaps you may like to do some deep sea fishing or scuba diving. There are chartered services available here on your doorstep.
Go swimming in the beautiful emerald green water at the Tuncurry 'Rock Pool' or Tuncurry's Ocean Beach. Only a 5 minute walk from Sunrise.
There are markets on each weekend, with the Tuncurry Market (opposite Sunrise) in the John Wright Park on the 4th Saturday of every month with delights for young
and old!
Family entertainment in December is staged opposite Sunrise in the John Wright Park. On Christmas Eve there is carol singing in the amphitheatre, and on New Years
Eve the fireworks. All across the road from Sunrise with grandstand views from all balconies!
